EXAM

Remember what you can be asked in you exam:


UNIT 3

  • Vocabulary on new technologies (webcam, electronic book reader, mobile phone, link, etc.)
  • Phrasal verbs from booth the workbook and the textbook
  • Future tenses: when to use 'wil', 'going to' and present continuous


UNIT 4

  • Vocabulary on celebrities (sign autographs, walk down the red carpet, etc). REVIEW THE WORKSHEET which appears in this blog
  • Compound adjectives
  • Relative clauses
    • relative pronouns
    • omitting the relative pronouns (and WHY we can or cannot omit it)
    • defining and non defining (join two sentences into one)
    • when you can and cannot use 'that'




Compound adjectives definition

I know that most of you have not understood the meaning of most of the compound adjectives, and given that we didn't have enough time in class, here you have ALL the compound adjectives that can appear in your exam with their definitions:

good-looking: attractive
world-famous: known all over the world
well-earned: deserved (merecido)
self-reliant: not needing help or support from other people; independent
narrow-minded:not willing to accept ideas or ways of behaving that are different from your own
ever-lasting: eternal
heart-broken: sad; depressed
well-known: famous
easy-going: friendly, relaxed, someone who is easy to deal with
thick-skinned: Someone who is thick-skinned does not appear to be easily hurt by criticism
hard-working: always doing a lot of work
cold-hearted: showing no understanding for or not feeling sorry about another person's suffering
warm-hearted: good person; kind; loving                           
two-faced: not sincere                   
short-tempered: someone who gets angry really easily                     
 big-headed: someone who thinks he is better/cleverer than anyone else
 badly-behaved: behaving in a way that is NOT accepted as correct (e.g. when you are shouting in class and do not allow your teacher to explain)          
  well-behaved: behaving in a way that is accepted as correct (e.g. when you are quite in class, raising your hand to ask questions, etc.)                       
 open-minded: someone who accepts other possibilities and opinions
strong-minded & single-minded: decided (decidido)      

level-headed & cool-headed: calm and able to deal with difficult situations

1. Match the numbers with the letters (write the letters a, b, c, d, e or f):

 2. self-reliant f- independent 
 3. narrow-minded c- inflexible
 4. ever-lasting b- eternal 
5. heart-broken e- depressed 

 2. Unit column 1 with column 2 to form compound adjectives and then choose which of them would be used in the following sentences:

 3. Match the definitions to the compound adjectives. There are more words than needed.
